Lifelong Learning is where the College of Health Sciences seeks to connect with
the broader medical clientele and the wider community in Bahrain and the
Arabian Gulf region. It aims to provide education and training to adults, both
for the professionals updating their skills and also for others retraining /
developing within their areas of interest.
Lifelong Learning provides a wide variety of short courses and workshops in
many areas of study and personal / professional growth for both government and
private organizations during the normal working hours of the college and on
special request, as afternoon sessions.
Since most of these courses / workshops have a training function or are
vocationally oriented, the prerequisites and other details vary. They are
listed below as offered by the relevant Divisions / Departments. To obtain more
information about a particular course/workshop, contact the respective
division/department.
The English Language Department caters to the varied language needs of the
employees of the Ministry of Health and the wider public. The programs on offer
range from language development courses of a general nature put together as
General English Courses (GEC), to more specific needs-based courses grouped as
English for Specific Purposes (ESP).
The Nursing Division & the International Training Organization (ITO) offer
courses to update the competencies of healthcare professionals in today's
rapidly changing health services environment. The following short courses are
currently offered:
The Department of Computer and General Sciences offers an excellent short
course on SPSS for Windows to familiarize professionals/researchers with a
widely used statistical package. The duration of the course could be tailored
as much as possible to suit the working hours of the given group intending to
attend the course. The course is delivered by a qualified statistician, who has
extensive experience in the field. The course is delivered in one of the
computer labs in the College of Health Sciences.
In collaboration with the Human Resources Development Committee, the
Educational Development Center at the College of Health Sciences offers an
array of workshops aimed acquiring new skills, and the fine-tuning of the old.
